Andrea Garcia Malledo (she/her/hers) is a clinical trainee completing an advanced practicum at Midwest Health. She is a fourth-year graduate student in the doctoral program for Counseling Psychology at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. She received her Master of Arts in Counseling and Psychological Services from Saint Mary’s and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology/Anthropology from Gustavus Adolphus College. Her experience has enabled her to work with adults, adolescents, and children experiencing various mental health concerns such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, trauma, self-discovery, identity exploration, self-esteem, self-compassion, and grief and loss.
She enjoys working with the LGBTQIA+ community, people from multicultural backgrounds, and immigrants. As a native Spanish speaker originally from Venezuela, she enjoys using her native language to connect with individuals who speak Spanish and utilize her experiences to connect with those whose first language is not English or who have a multicultural background. She uses a CBT, client-centered, strength-based approach when working with clients. Andrea’s empathy is a cornerstone of her practice, ensuring that her clients feel heard and cared for. She is culturally affirming and inclusive of all intersections of identity, focusing on understanding an individual’s experience and story.
